“I know people experience rapid fat loss and feel amazing on a keto diet but I love carbs! Can I eat carbs on keto?”

this is a question I get a lot and the answer is…


“But I thought keto was a zero carb, high fat diet?”

right you are but there are two kinds of carbs, one you can eat all the time on a high fat keto diet, the other type of carb you only eat on “re-feed days”.”

allow me to explain…

You see, eating keto means that 70+ of your calories come from fat and only 50 net grams of carbs per day.

The place to get those 50 net carbs are by way of high fiber green veggies. You can eat veggies on a keto diet, a lot of them because most of the “carbs” are fiber.

Fiber is good for you of course because it keeps your digestion healthy and because it doesn’t absorb and turn into glucose in the bloodstream, it won’t keep you out of ketosis-a.k.a. a fat burning state!

The second kind of carbs are the fun ones! Rice, bread, potatoes, bread, desserts, pasta, etc.

These types of carbs spike blood sugar, kick you out of fat burning mode and should not be consumed while on a keto diet, at least not all the time.

You see, the real trick to making the ketogenic diet sustainable for the long run is to have regular carbohydrate re-feeds!

You can think of it as a cheat meal once per week when you get to go hog wild on the carbs.

This carb re-feed isn’t just fun and enjoyable but actually helps you get leaner, stronger, and more energized!

How, you might ask?

Carbs are good in moderation. Carbs help refill muscle glycogen boosting performance and lean toned muscle building. Carbs are also used to produce serotonin-a.k.a. happy relaxing neurotransmitters and fuel the brain.

The problem we have is we get waaay too much of a good thing so we get fat and feel sluggish and lethargic.

By eating a ketogenic diet most of the time, you will look and feel your best every day.

And by indulging your carbaholic side for one meal per week, you will make it work even better while satisfying your cravings making the keto diet not only effective but enjoyable to stick with for the long haul!
